Can I Continue Working During Cancer Treatment?

It depends on:

Questions You're Afraid to Ask

The short answer

Some people can continue working; others need to reduce their workload or stop temporarily.

It depends on:

Type of cancer

Treatment

Side effects

Nature of your job

Travel requirements

Physical demands

Your personal preference

Talk to your doctor.

Ask how you might feel after treatment sessions and whether fatigue or other side effects are expected. NCI recommends discussing work and daily activities with the cancer-care team. 

You may consider:

Flexible hours

Working from home

Reduced workload

Planned leave

Help with travel

Remember

Working during treatment is not a test of courage.

Do what is medically and practically appropriate for you.
