Can I Eat Sugar?
You do not need to believe that eliminating sugar will "starve" cancer.
Questions You're Afraid to Ask
The short answer
You do not need to believe that eliminating sugar will "starve" cancer.
All cells in the body use glucose.
There is no evidence that simply stopping sugar makes an established cancer disappear.
Does that mean sugar does not matter?
Excessive added sugar can contribute to excess calorie intake and weight gain.
So limiting:
Sugary drinks
Excess sweets
Highly processed foods
can be part of healthy eating.
What about fruit?
Whole fruits contain naturally occurring sugars together with fibre and other nutrients.
Remember
Reducing excessive added sugar is sensible.
But:
"Sugar-free" does not mean "cancer-free."
Do not adopt an extreme diet during cancer treatment without professional advice.
Reliable sources: National Cancer Institute (NCI), World Health Organization (WHO), relevant national cancer-care guidelines, and appropriate peer-reviewed evidence.
