For many people, appropriate physical activity can be part of recovery—but the amount and type should match your health and treatment history.

Start gradually.

Depending on your condition, this may begin with:

Short walks

Gentle stretching

Light daily activity

Then gradually increase activity as advised.

Ask your doctor if you have:

Severe fatigue

Significant weakness

Bone problems

Heart or lung problems

Recent surgery

Balance difficulties

Remember

Exercise is not a competition.
