Can I Take an Ayurvedic "Immunity Booster"?

The immune system is complex. Increasing immune activity is not automatically beneficial for every person with cancer.

Questions You're Afraid to Ask

The short answer

Be careful with the phrase "immunity booster."

The immune system is complex. Increasing immune activity is not automatically beneficial for every person with cancer.

Some cancer treatments deliberately modify immune activity.

Before taking an immunity product, ask:

What exactly is in it?

What evidence shows that it benefits people with my cancer?

Could it interact with my treatment?

Who is recommending it?

Remember

A product does not become scientifically proven because it is called an "immunity booster."

NCI advises cancer patients to tell their healthcare team about supplements and complementary products. 
