How Do I Choose an Ayurveda or Complementary-Medicine Practitioner?

Has recognized professional qualifications

Questions You're Afraid to Ask

Look for someone who:

Has recognized professional qualifications

Takes a complete medical history

Knows your cancer diagnosis

Asks about your oncology treatment

Reviews your medicines and supplements

Explains benefits and uncertainties

Discusses risks

Supports communication with your cancer team

NCI similarly advises patients to ask about a complementary practitioner's qualifications, experience with cancer patients and willingness to work with the treating doctor. 

🚩 Be cautious if someone:

Promises a guaranteed cure

Tells you to stop cancer treatment

Says all doctors are wrong

Refuses to communicate with your oncologist

Sells expensive "secret" packages

Claims one treatment works for every cancer

Remember

Choose a practitioner who puts your safety before their treatment.
