What If I Want to Use Both Modern Medicine and Ayurveda?

These are not the same thing. 

Questions You're Afraid to Ask

The short answer

That is what integrative care is intended to address.

Complementary care means using an approach alongside standard cancer treatment.

Alternative care means using it instead of standard cancer treatment.

These are not the same thing. 

A safe integrative approach means:

Cancer treatment remains appropriate

Complementary practices are assessed for safety

All healthcare professionals know what you are taking

Potential interactions are considered

Evidence and uncertainty are discussed

The patient's preferences are respected

Ayurveda may potentially contribute to areas such as:

Nutrition

Lifestyle

Relaxation

Sleep

Mind–body wellbeing

Supportive care

But individual medicines and procedures need individual assessment.

Remember

Integration means cooperation—not replacement.
