The short answer

Cancer and its treatment can change taste and smell.

Food may taste:

Metallic

Bitter

Bland

Too sweet

Different from before

What can you try?

Experiment with different foods.

Try smaller meals.

Use foods with flavours that you tolerate.

If appropriate, maintain good oral care.

Some people find cooler or room-temperature foods easier to tolerate.

If you are eating very little

Tell your doctor or dietitian.

Taste changes can contribute to inadequate nutrition.

Remember

You are not "being difficult" if food suddenly tastes wrong.

Taste changes are a real treatment-related problem.
