Some cancer treatments cause hair loss; others do not.

It depends on the particular treatment.

Hair loss may affect the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes or other body hair.

Ask before treatment:

"Will my treatment cause hair loss?"

"When might it begin?"

"Will my hair grow back?"

"Are there ways to reduce hair loss with my treatment?"

Remember

Hair loss can be emotionally difficult.

It does not mean that the treatment is "stronger" or that the cancer is necessarily worse.

And hair loss does not happen with every chemotherapy medicine.

Consider preparing yourself before treatment by discussing:

Haircuts

Head coverings

Wigs

Scalp care

Emotional support
